Residencial buildings are one of the few programmes of newly built structures that really interest us. Good residential architecture is the key and the lever to reabilitate, densify and activate the neighborhoods of suburban metropolitan areas.

New times and new demands require new answers, at least in the Portuguese context.

Our proposal for a low rise 18 apartment building presents a building solution based on a composite concrete/ prefabricated timber structure and a flexible “see through” typological plan to give a plausible answer to the pressing need of good quality, affordable housing.

The often overlooked issue of how to solve the contact with the ground floor becomes a strategic point in this proposal. The building rises in the back to guarantee privacy, and proposes a polyvalent area below, which would face and activate the “main street” along with the entrance lobbies.
